Sea Water is renowned for having a perfect compatibility with the cells of the body and many therapeutic virtues. It helps relieve the symptoms of many nasal conditions.
Sea Water from the Atlantic Ocean contains an average of 35 grams per litre of mineral salts, the best known and most abundant of which is sodium chloride (NaCl). This plays a vital role in the body’s hydro-electrolyte (water-salt) balance.
Seawater also contains all the essential trace elements (Copper, Manganese, Sulphur, Zinc, Magnesium, etc.). Although present in very small quantities in the body, these activate many metabolic processes and are essential for the growth of the cells of the nasal mucosa, especially in babies and children.
All Stérimar™ products are made with 100% Natural Sea Water sourced from the Bay of Cancale, off Brittany coast in France and manufactured in the UK. The Bay of Cancale is an extremely protected environment, which benefits from the permanent renewal of the water thanks to the highest tides in Europe. The outstanding purity of our Sea Water is certified by IFREMER (as class A). The area is also known to host the largest colony of Bottlenose dolphins in Europe, 400 of them!
The whole Stérimar range is free from drugs and preservatives, which means that they can be used alongside other medicated products and by pregnant and breastfeeding women. The whole range is suitable for children age 3 years and up, and Stérimar Breathe Easy Baby is suitable for babies.
Stérimar™ Sea Water is taken from a specific location in order to ensure its purity. Stérimar™ and our suppliers will always guarantee the high and constant quality of the seawater and will always respect the site.
Stérimar™ products offer two types of Sea Water solutions – isotonic and hypertonic solution. The difference between those two formulas is in the concentration of sodium chloride (salt) in the products. Each of the solutions is recommended for different purposes.

Osmosis occurs when two environments have different salt concentrations – the water goes from the least salty to the most salty. This allows the excess water to be extracted from the inflamed nasal mucosa, leaving it decongested.
